NBA: Felton, Bobcats far apart on a new contract

MIKE CRANSTON
AP Sports Writer

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Raymond Felton's agent says they're farther apart than originally thought in contract negotiations with the Charlotte Bobcats.

Kevin Bradbury and Charlotte general manager Rod Higgins met Tuesday night in Las Vegas to try to hammer out a long-term deal for the restricted free agent point guard. Bradbury said they were feeling good going into the meeting, but soon realized they weren't close on financial terms.

Bradbury said Wednesday they "will continue talking and looking at our options."

Felton has indicated he wants to stay in Charlotte. The Bobcats could sign him for up to six years.

If a deal can't be struck, Felton could sign a one-year tender worth $5.5 million and become an unrestricted free agent next summer.
