The Willows is, of course, way, way older than a decade, having opened in 1944. But it was 10 years ago that the beloved garden-and-pond restaurant reopened under new management, so they're celebrating 5:30-10:30 p.m. Aug. 7 with a pupu party, entertainment, prize giveaways and a sake tasting. Executive chef Jay Matsukawa has designed a menu of contemporary Island-style appetizers — from bacon-wrapped shrimp in a lobster reduction to warm chocolate-hazelnut cake. These will sell for $3 to $6 each, and there will be drinks in the same price range. There's no cover, but tickets for the sake tasting room are $20 and advance reservations are suggested: 952-9200.

CLASSIC COKE GLASSES AT MCDONALD'S

Classic Coke needs a classic glass, right? And the classic is the one you see in all the old ads with its graceful, rounded shape. This month, McDonald's is bringing that glass back with the offer, now through Aug. 3, of a free glass with the purchase of any large Extra Value Meal. Or you can purchase them individually, while supplies last. They're molded plastic and come in four colors.
