Police catch, arrest alleged purse snatcher in Kailua

An 18-year-old Kalihi man was arrested in Kailua Wednesday after a woman, 26, told police the man grabbed her purse off of her shoulder.
The woman said she was walking about 2:30 p.m. when the man approached from the other direction and grabbed her purse with enough force to cause the shoulder strap to break.
Responding officers found the suspect on a city bus a short time later, fronting 1543 Keolu Drive. The suspect was identified and arrested on suspicion of second-degree robbery.
The woman’s purse was recovered, police said.
