The Queen’s Medical Center celebrated its 150th anniversary today with a traditional Hawaiian ceremony in honor of its founders, Queen Emma and King Kamehameha IV.

“Heritage Fair” festivities earlier today included entertainment by the Royal Hawaiian Band and Kaukahi, a Hawaiian craft fair and cultural demonstrations.
The Queen’s Hospital was founded in 1859 and became The Queen’s Medical Center in 1967. It offers a range of specialties, including cardiology, gastroenterology, genetics, geriatrics and pulmonology. In 2007, The Queen's Cancer Center opened.
In celebrating its 150th anniversary, the hospital is inviting the public to loan or donate hospital memorabilia — stories, photos, logo items, staff uniforms, baby identification bracelets and other historic items. A selection of the submitted pieces will be displayed in an exhibit at Queen's or added to the medical center's historical archives collection.
