WAIMEA — Children playing with a magnifying glass yesterday ignited a brushfire that briefly threatened homes in Kamuela View Estates in Waimea.

Firefighters responded to a call at about 12:45 p.m. The fire was under control shortly after 1 and extinguished by 3.
Workers from a nearby construction site used a water truck to battle the blaze until firefighters arrived.
