The Kauaçi Island Utiity Cooperative is mailing out $2.4 million of refund checks to its member as it returns a quarter of its 2008 net margin of $9.6 million to its customers.

The utility said the average residential customer’s refund check will be about $27. It has returned $23.1 million to members since the electric utility was acquired by the cooperating in 2002.
