Woman arrested in crash that killed Ewa Beach man

This roadside memorial was set up along Fort Barrette Road in Kapolei today in honor of an Ewa Beach man who was killed hours earlier when his car was struck by a suspected drunk driver.

A woman was arrested on suspicion of negligent homicide and driving under the influence of alcohol following a two-vehicle collision in Kapolei early today that killed a 52-year-old çEwa Beach man.

The incident happened around 1:30 a.m. at the intersection of Fort Barrette Road and Kapolei Parkway.
According to the Honolulu Police Department's Vehicular Homicide section, the woman disregarded a red light and drove her speeding northbound sports utility vehicle into the intersection, where it broadsided a sports car that was making a left turn from Kapolei Parkway.
The driver of the sports car, a Corvette, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police identified the driver of the SUV as Kristin Mancao, 27, of Kapolei. She has no prior criminal record, according to the Hawaii Criminal Justice Data Center.
She and her passenger were both unharmed.
The fatality was the 36th of the year on Oçahu, compared to 29 at the same time last year.
