     • Kim reaches match play final

Honolulu's Tadd Fujikawa rallied after the turn to fire a 4-under-par 67 yesterday and remain in fourth after the second round of the Nationwide Tour's Cox Classic, at Omaha, Neb.

Fujikawa's two-round total of 11-under 131 puts him two shots behind leaders J.J. Killeen (66) and Jonas Blixt (65). Fujikawa shares fourth with four others, including Nationwide money leader Michael Sim, making his first start since finishing 18th at the U.S. Open.

Kamehameha graduate Keoke Cotner shot 68 and is six back at 7-under 135.

Fujikawa opened with a 7-under 64. Starting on the back nine yesterday, he had two bogeys and a birdie to make the turn at 1-over 37.

Then the 18-year-old Moanalua High graduate found the range. He birdied the first hole with a 12-footer and the third from 20 feet. Fujikawa knocked his wedge to seven feet on the next hole and sank that.

He missed a five-footer for birdie on the par-5 sixth, but drained a 12-foot downhill putt for birdie on the next hole. He finished by hitting his drive just right of the green on the par-4 ninth hole, then finessed a flop shot inside two feet for his 15th birdie of the week.

"Me and my mom have been working hard on putting, as usual," Fujikawa said by phone. "I feel comfortable with the way I'm stroking putts and I feel comfortable over the ball, which is a pretty good feeling. I feel like if I can get the right read and stroke it the way I've been stroking it, the ball has a pretty good chance to go in."

Fujikawa leads the field in putting halfway through the Classic, but figures he needs to go even lower at a tournament where the average winning score has been more than 21-under par.

"The score will be pretty low if conditions stay the way they are," Fujikawa said. "The course is very score-able, there's not much wind, the greens are rolling great. It is perfect golfing conditions. The winning score will definitely be in the 20s."

    WIE EIGHT BACK

Ai Miyazato of Japan shot a 6-under 66 to share the second-round lead at the Evian Masters, where Honolulu's Michelle Wie was eight shots back after a 70 at Evian-Les-Bains, France.

Miyazato was at 9-under 135 with joint first-round leader Na Yeon Choi of South Korea (68) and Becky Brewerton of Wales, who bogeyed the 16th and 17th to shoot 68 yesterday.

Despite a double bogey on the fourth, Wie hit five birdies in her round of 70 to give her a chance of gaining points for a place on the U.S. Solheim Cup team for next month's matchup against Europe.

    KELLY TOPS IN CANADA

Jerry Kelly topped the leaderboard in the rain-delayed Canadian Open, shooting a 7-under 65 in the completion of the first round and reaching 11-under overall with three holes remaining in the second yesterday at Oakville, Ontario.

Camilo Villegas, Tim Herron, Martin Laird and Nathan Green were a stroke back.

Villegas, tied for the first-round lead with Kevin Na after a 63 in the morning, also had three holes to play. Herron had two holes to go, Laird one and Green six.

Na, unable to start play, and Bob Estes were 9 under. Estes had five holes left.

Honolulu's Parker McLachlin completed his first round with 66 and was four strokes back after 13 holes in the second round.

Kane'ohe native Dean Wilson wasn't able to tee off in the second round and was seven shots back after shooting a 68 Thursday.

    FUNK LEADS SENIORS

Fred Funk shot a 5-under 65 for a three-shot lead at the Senior British Open yesterday at Sunningdale, England.

    He is a tournament-record 11-under 129 through two rounds

Tom Watson is seven shots back after a 69.
