'Eat Local' campaign organizing for Aug. 8-15

Advertiser Staff

Can you do without foods that weren't grown or produced locally? Kanu Hawai'i, a local activist organization, is suggesting you try to find during its Eat Local Challenge Aug. 8-15.

The Challenge takes several forms:
• Pledge to eat only locally grown produce or items made from locally grown ingredients Aug. 8-15.
• If you can't pull that off, at least try to eat local breakfast, lunch and dinner on Aug. 15.
• Participate in a 'smart mob' of a local producer or retailer on Aug. 8, to support those that sell such items.
• Thrown an Eat Local party, sharing a meal that is made from all Hawai'i ingredients.
