Chef Mavro plans 'Julie & Julia' dinners

Advertiser Staff

Having hosted a preview of the new Sony Pictures feature 'Julie & Julia' earlier this month, chef George Mavrothalassitis is planning a special three-course 'Julie & Julia' menu to launch on the day of the movie's opening, Aug. 7.

At his Chef Mavro restaurant, Mavrothalassitis will offer three-course meals featuring recipes showcased in the film about pioneer TV chef Julia Child (played by Meryl Streep) and the modern-day blogger who followed in her footsteps, Julie Powel (Amy Adams)l. These include classic Boeuf a la Bourguignonne (a beef braise in the style of Burgundy) and tarte tatin (upside down apple tart). The three-course menu will be offered for $59 with additional courses and wine pairings available for additional charges. The chef will serve the French beef dish tableside.
The menu will be available Fridays and Saturday from Aug. 7. Reservations are required: 944-4714. Information: chefmavro.com.
