Glennie Adams, a Kamehameha Schools alum and former All-American volleyball star for the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo, has returned to her alma mater.

Adams, who recently served as assistant athletics director and head coach for the women’s volleyball team at Chaminade University, will become associate athletic director for the Kapalama Campus.
Adams will join the staff Aug. 1 and will oversee the following sports: air riflery; riflery; softball and boys and girls cross country, tennis, water polo, diving, soccer and track and field.
She replaces long-time associate athletic director Erv Kau, who retired earlier this summer after 26 years of service.
“We are very pleased to have Glennie join our ohana as an associate athletic director,” said Kanani Souza, the school’s athletic director, in a prepared statement. “Glennie is an outstanding coach and mentor and her extensive background in high school and college athletics is a plus for Kamehameha Schools.”
Adams graduated in 1978 and lettered in track and field, volleyball, softball and basketball. She graduated from the University of Hawai‘i-Hilo with a degree in psychology and earned a master’s degree in social work from Mänoa.
She also coached at UH-Hilo, Punahou School, Kamehameha Schools and University High.
Adams was inducted into the NCAA Hall of Fame in 1990 and the UH-Hilo Vulcan Hall of Honor in 2004.
