Water main fixed in Waikiki

A Board of Water Supply crew works this morning at the site of a water main break on Kaiulani Avenue and Prince Edward Street in Waikiki. Water service was eventually restored to the area around 11 a.m.

The broken 12-inch main at the intersection of Kaiulani Avenue and Prince Edward Street in Waikiki has been repaired. Water service was restored before 11 this morning, the Board of Water Supply said. Crews are in the process of backfilling the hole. Work to repair the road is expected to continue through the evening.

Kaiulani Avenue will be closed at Prince Edward Street until crews finish repairing the road. Traffic on Kaiulani Avenue is being redirected on to Koa Avenue.

The break was reported around 12:30 a.m..
It was not known how many customers were without water.
A water wagon was stationed at 2424 Prince Edward Street to provide water for affected area residents.
