A 71-year-old Massachusetts man apparently drowned Wednesday at Po'ipu Beach Park on Kaua'i.

Kaua'i firefighters said the man was found floating face-down in the water fronting the Beach House Restaurant about 11:50 a.m. He was about 50 yards from shore.

Swimmers in the area brought the man to shore.

Paramedics took the man to Wilcox Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
