Burger competition to help Hawaii Foodbank

On June 14, Burgers On the Edge, 890 Kapahulu at Safeway Center, will host a live competition and TV taping for a "Burger Genius" Contest and collect canned goods and cash for the Hawaii Foodbank.

Four finalists will vie for the Burger Genius title, $200 cash, a burger a month for a year and the chance to see their creation appear on the Burgers on the Edge menu. The winner will be decided by which of the four gets the highest sales on the Burger on the Edge menu in June and a portion of the proceeds from the sales of the four burgers will go to the Foodbank.
Contestants will be able to choose from any of the eight cheeses, 12 sauces and 18 toppings on the Burger on the Edge menu.
The competition is at 5:30 p.m. June 14 and is open to the public. The most needed items on the Foodbank menu are: canned meats and tuna, canned spaghetti, chili and corned beef hash, canned soups, vegetables or fruits.
