Honolulu credit union warns about scams

Advertiser Staff

Honolulu Federal Credit Union is warning the public to be aware of both text and recorded phone messages that are being sent to its members and individuals who are not members of the credit union in an attempt to gain personal and account information.

The messages notify the recipient that their credit union account has been suspended pending verification, or that a debit card has been blocked. In both instances a telephone number is given with the instructions to call and provide information to reactivate their accounts.

The credit union does not contact its members in this manner to request such information, and is instructing everyone not to respond. If you have replied to these requests, contact your financial institution immediately to prevent any unauthorized activities on your accounts.
