Advertiser staff

June's First Thursday HawaiiSlam show features Marc Bamuthi Joseph, who fuses dance and poetry seamlessly together to create works of art that have earned him a National Poetry Slam Champion title, parts on Broadway, TV appearances and other accolades.

The 8:30 p.m. show Thursday at Pipeline Cafe also includes a "No Rules" Slam that will allow musical accompaniment, cover poems, props and other accessories. In addition, DJ Mr. Nick will be running the turntable and various resident artists will be painting live.

Admission is $3 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., then $5 after the show starts at 8:30.
