Tom named Maui deputy police chief

WAILUKU, Maui — Maui Police Chief Gary Yabuta has selected Clayton Tom as the new deputy chief of police, effective July 1.

Tom joined the department in 1982 and now serves as assistant chief of the Support Services Bureau, which includes the communications; community
relations; plans, training research and development; technical services; and information technology sections.
He attended the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy in Quantico, Va., and is a FBI-certified firearm instructor. Tom also received certification as a rappel master from the Department of the Army, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks East Range.
Tom, a Kamehameha School graduate, and his wife Pamela have three children, sons Corey and Kawena and daughter Kehaulani.
