ECU advances with 10-9 victory

GREENVILLE, N.C. — Devin Harris singled home Kyle Roller in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift East Carolina past South Carolina, 10-9, last night in an NCAA regional final.

Harris, who forced extra innings with a three-run homer in the ninth, finished with four hits and five RBIs for the top-seeded Pirates (46-18). East Carolina will play at North Carolina in a best-of-three super regional series beginning Saturday.

In the 10th, Roller doubled, Brandon Henderson was intentionally walked, and two batters later, Harris sent Sam Dyson's 3-1 pitch up the middle for the win against South Carolina (40-23).

LOUISVILLE REGIONAL

Louisville 5, Vanderbilt 3: Ryan Wright hit a go-ahead three-run homer and Tony Zych allowed two runs and six hits in six innings to lift the Cardinals (47-16) past the Commodores (37-27) in the deciding game of their regional series at Louisville, Ky.

The Cardinals travel to Cal State Fullerton (45-14) for a best-of-three super regional series that begins Friday night.

CLEMSON REGIONAL

Clemson 6, Oklahoma St. 5: Kyle Parker's two-run single in the eighth inning lifted the Tigers (44-20) to a comeback victory over the Cowboys (34-24) in the deciding game of their regional at Clemson, S.C.

The Tigers will play at Arizona State in the super regionals beginning Saturday.

ATLANTA REGIONAL

Southern Miss 12, Georgia Tech 8: B.A. Vollmuth hit two second-inning homers off Georgia Tech ace Deck McGuire to power the Golden Eagles (38-24) past the Yellow Jackets (38-19-1) at Atlanta and send the Eagles to their first NCAA super regional.

Southern Miss (38-24) will play Florida (42-20) in the best-of-three super regional beginning Saturday in Gainesville, Fla.

OXFORD REGIONAL

Mississippi 4, W. Kentucky 1: Drew Pomeranz took a no-hitter into the seventh inning and tied a school record with 16 strikeouts in his complete game to lead the Rebels (43-18) past the Hilltoppers (42-20) at Oxford, Miss., and into the super regionals.

Ole Miss will host Virginia (46-12-1) in a series that begins Friday.

HOUSTON REGIONAL

Rice 13, Kansas St. 4: Diego Seastrunk hit a three-run homer and Rick Hague drove in three runs to help the Owls (43-16) defeat the Wildcats (43-18-1) at Houston and advance to the super regionals.

The Owls will travel to LSU in the best-of-three super regionals that begins Friday.
