Schofield soldiers deploy to Iraq tomorrow

More than 150 soldiers from the 130th Engineer Brigade at Schofield Barracks will say goodbye to their families tomorrow as they head off on a deployment to Iraq.

A deployment ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. on Hamilton Field.
The engineer brigade soldiers will serve for a year in northern Iraq and will join two of its battalions, the 84th and 65th Engineers, who deployed in November and December, respectively.
The soldiers will provide engineer support to the 25th Infantry Division and Task Force Lightning. 
The 130th Engineer Brigade, a combat engineer unit, was relocated from Germany in 2007 and transferred to the command of U.S. Army Pacific headquartered at Fort Shafter.
The brigade “uncased” its colors in Hawaiçi on Oct. 23, 2008.
Units of the 130th Engineer Brigade were deployed to Kuwait in early 2003 and moved into Iraq that March supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom with bridging and infrastructure support.
