Police looking for suspects in thefts targeting elderly

Advertiser Staff

The Kaua'i Police Department is asking the public for information on recent thefts that appear to target elderly residents.

In recent weeks, police said they have received several reports of two or three women asking senior citizens if they are in need of home repairs or various home services. In one report, the women received a deposit for services they never returned to complete.

"It's always disheartening to hear of our elderly being victimized," Assistant Police Chief Roy Asher said.

In another incident, the victim invited the women into the house. The women took money and jewelry and left.

"We are doing our best to solve these cases, and would like to ask the public for their assistance," Asher said.

Anyone with information about these cases may contact police dispatch at 808-241-1711 or CrimeStoppers at 808-241-1887.
