Siren-warning systems tested on Oahu today

Advertiser Staff

The city will be conducting tests of four outdoor siren-warning systems on Oahu throughout the day.

Sirens to be tested are located in the following areas: Kalihi Kai (Sand Island and Nimitz), Kalakaua Recreation Center, Alewa Heights, Ewa Beach Shopping Center and Waianae High School.

The tests are being conducted to ensure that the sirens are operating at full power and providing optimal range.

Residents and businesses in the vicinity of these sirens may hear several soundings during the testing periods.

Hawaii State Civil Defense funds the purchase and installation of these sirens. Once installed they are released to the city for monthly testing and emergency activation.
