Bank suspect linked to ID card arrested

A man who was wanted in connection with two bank robberies, including one in which he allegedly left behind his identification card, was arrested last night, police said.

Gregg Inoshita, 48, was arrested about 8:45 p.m. in Waikiki. He was booked on suspicion of first- and second-degree robbery and was in police custody pending charges.

Inoshita was the subject of a CrimeStoppers bulletin after a man robbed the Mo'ili'ili branch of Central Pacific Bank on Tuesday. Police said the man handed a teller a note, saying he had a weapon, and demanded money.

The suspect was given an undisclosed amount of cash and left on foot. Inoshita's ID card was found at the bank.

Yesterday, a man who matched Inoshita's description approached a teller's window at the Kaimuki branch of Hawaii National Bank about 12:50 p.m. and demanded money. Police said he fled in a waiting taxi after being given money.

The teller identified the robber from a photographic lineup, police said. Last night, police were able to locate the suspect, identified by police as Inoshita, and arrest him.
