An elderly male driver who mistakenly headed west in the eastbound lane of Moanalua Freeway has been safely returned home by Honolulu police officers.

The man apparently entered the freeway from the Fort Shafter offramp then attempted to correct his error by reversing back down the ramp.
Police intervened, took the man's car keys and drove him home. The man indicated that he had become confused.
