A man apparently drowned and his 13-year-old daughter was injured last night when their Zodiac capsized off Keauhou in rough seas, the Hawai'i County Fire Department said.

The semi-rigid, inflatable Zodiac capsized in the rough shore break, which firefighters said contributed to the 6 p.m. capsizing yesterday.

Firefighters found the man floating face down and the girl in severe distress with head injuries.

A man on his personal watercraft brought the father to shore while firefighters brought the girl to Keauhou Pier.

The man's identity was not released pending notification of next of kin.
