NFL: Vikings coach says no Favre decision deadline this week

Associated Press

MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota coach Brad Childress says he never set a deadline of this week for Brett Favre to decide whether to play for the Vikings.

Childress called local sports radio station KFAN on his way to work Wednesday. He wouldn't confirm if the team will continue to pursue Favre this summer, but acknowledged he's eager to see what Favre has "left in that can" following recent reported surgery on his throwing arm.

Childress also said he's spoken with quarterbacks Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels about the situation and that he's not concerned the Favre saga will distract them. The Vikings have a handful of offseason practices scheduled over the next week, their last organized activities until training camp.
