Kuhio Park Terrace cleanup will start at 8:30 a.m. June 20

Advertiser Staff

Some 400 volunteers and public housing residents will converge on Kuhio Park Terrace on June 20 for a major cleanup effort.

The event will kick off at 8:30 a.m. Volunteers will pick up trash, paint and do landscaping. No more volunteers are being sought for the cleanup.

Kuhio Park Terrace is the largest public housing complex in the state, and is the subject of a recent class-action lawsuit that alleges residents are living in unsafe and unsanitary conditions.

The state says it is working to address key concerns, including faulty or broken trash chutes, fire alarms and elevators.
