Advertiser Staff

University of Hawai'i's Amber Kaufman and Emily Sheppard advanced to the high jump finals yesterday at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Fayetteville, Ark.

Kaufman and Sheppard were among 15 jumpers who cleared 5-feet-9, which narrowed the field from 23 in the preliminary round at the University of Arkansas' John McDonnell Field.

Both Kaufman and Sheppard cleared their opening two heights of 5-7 and 5-8 on their first attempts. Kaufman missed her first attempt at 5-9, but cleared on her second attempt. Sheppard cleared the bar on her third and final attempt.

Today, Annett Wichmann will begin the first day of the heptathlon.
