The 32nd annual Na Hoku Hanohano Awards took place Tuesday night, and like all awards shows, this one was ... long. But that's not all that stood out to us. Let's talk about Twitter. Or to be more specific, LiveTweeting.

There was whole lot of it going on at the awards, which created a bit of a buzz among the folks who don't know a tweet from a twit. The geeks were more than happy to explain the social-networking craze to the uninitiated, and we're pretty sure the uninitiated got way more info than they wanted. At one point, Honolulu master of the Twitterverse, Ryan Ozawa, even declared the evening an unofficial TweetUp. ...

Blaisdell Arena made a cameo appearance during Sunday night's 63rd Annual Tony Awards. The three-hours-plus award show included a segment that highlighted how far stage shows had traveled this season. Thanks to the recent "Mamma Mia!" engagement in Honolulu, our arena got its two seconds of fame. And like good locals, we got all excited and rewound the DVR and watched it again. "Omigod! That was the Blaisdell! Rewind it!" ... Another Hawai'i tie at the Tony Awards was Marcia Gay Harden, who is on the Honolulu Symphony's honorary board of directors. She won best lead actress for her role in the play "God of Carnage." She joined the board in March ...

A sleeper movie to check out this weekend is "Skills Like Us" at Kahala 8. The 2007 flick won the Audience Award at the South by Southwest Film Festival and it's supposed to be hilarious. Besides, one of the producers, George Gaudiello, has been a Hawai'i Kai resident since 1990 ...

This weekend is the last chance to catch IONA Contemporary Dance Theatre's "The Living Earth" on the lawn around the Skygate sculpture on the city hall grounds.
