It's eighth day after full moon, but no jellyfish reported

Advertiser Staff

City lifeguards haven't seen an influx of box jellyfish so far today, according to Emergency Services Division spokesman Bryan Cheplic.

Although they don’t always follow a calendar, box jellyfish tend to arrive on Hawaii beaches seven to 11 days after a full moon.
Today is the eighth day after the last full moon.
City lifeguards will be keeping an eye out for the creatures today through Wednesday.
If large numbers of jellyfish are seen, warning signs will be posted and beaches may be closed.
