Ex-West Virginia Little League manager sentenced for embezzling from team

Associated Press

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — A former manager of the South Berkeley Little League team will spend five weekends in jail for embezzling more than $9,000 from the team.

Berkeley County Circuit Court Judge Gray Silver sentenced Larry A. Custer of Inwood on Monday to one to 10 years in prison. Silver then suspended that sentence and placed Custer on five years of probation.

As part of his probation, Custer must serve five weekends in jail and make full restitution.

Custer made thousands of dollars in unauthorized purchases with the league's credit card.

Court records indicate he told police he knew it was wrong, but he had no money for food.
