The Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce's Chopsticks & Wine event has quickly become one of the most popular grazing events on the O'ahu culinary calendar. The eighth annual fundraiser for JCC charitable projects, "Magic of Waikiki," is set for 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 6 at the Sheraton Waikiki hotel, featuring tasting stations from Isle restaurants and a selection of wines, beers and sakes, as well as a silent auction.

Tickets are $90 per person if you buy before Sept. 18, $100 thereafter. Information: 949-5531; or e-mail info@honolulujapanesechamber.org.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR FOR FARM FAIR

The annual Hawaii State Farm Fair will take place July 18 and 19 at the Bishop Museum with a 4-H livestock exhibit, agricultural displays and a farmers market of Island fruits, and tropical plant displays and sales. There will be entertainment and, of course, food. At the Ag-Tastic Expo, Hawai'i-grown, Hawai'i-made products will be showcased, including coffee from five islands and locally made butter. On the menu are grass-fed beef burgers, teri beef, kalua pig, chili and rice, gyros, garlic shrimp, Kahuku corn and Sugarland watermelon.

Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for children 4-12; younger children enter free. Ticket price includes entry to "Backyard Monsters — The World of Insects." Hours are 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. Discounted fares will be offered on the Waikiki Trolley. Information: hfbf.org; 848-2074. The event is sponsored by the Hawaii Farm Bureau Federation.
