NBA: Jason Williams says he may try to play again

Associated Press

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Jason Williams says he may not want to stay retired.

Williams ended his 10-year NBA career not long after signing with the Los Angeles Clippers last year. During a mall autograph session Wednesday, the West Virginia native said he retired due to complications in his wife's pregnancy.

He's relished the time spent with his wife and three children, now ages 7, 4 and 13 months. But the time away from basketball has made him hungry to return.

The 33-year-old Williams says he'll decide whether to attempt a comeback after the free agency period begins July 1.

Williams helped the Miami Heat to the NBA title in 2006. He averaged 11.4 points and 6.3 assists over his career that also included stints with Sacramento and Memphis.
