Fireworks organizers short on cash for annual display

Advertiser Staff

The annual Kailua Fourth of July fireworks display is at risk of not happening this year unless donors can be found to help foot the bill, organizers say.

Scott Carvill, broker for the Kailua-based real estate agency Carvill and Co., has become the unofficial spokesman for the community-organized event this year and said they've raised about a third of the money needed with another third pending confirmation.

"The fundraising has now taken stride," he said.

Carvill estimated they'll need to raise $42,000 to $45,000 and is encouraging both businesses and individuals to donate.
