Hawai'i County police said they are investigating suspicious injuries to a 6-month-old baby.

Police were called to North Kohala Community Hospital shortly after 5 a.m. yesterday after doctors examined a baby boy and determined he had sustained an injury to his brain.

The baby and his mother were flown to Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women and Children so the infant could receive further treatment.
