NCAA punishes Division II wrestlers, coaches

Associated Press

INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA has penalized five Division II wrestlers, one head coach, two assistant coaches and a donor for misconduct following the national championships in Houston.

The NCAA said one wrestler, both assistants and a donor were arrested for public intoxication while another wrestler was arrested for evading arrest in March. The others were cited for unruly behavior and property damage.
The NCAA did not provide names but said penalties range from private reprimands to fines, totaling $4,000. That is besides what was owed for property damage to the Hyatt Regency.
Representatives from Nebraska-Omaha, Findlay, Upper Iowa, Newberry and Minnesota State, Moorhead, were punished. Three other schools were penalized but were not named.
