Breezy winds, a few showers expected today

A high pressure area far north of the islands will move northeast slowly over the next several days, the National Weather Service said.

The high will keep locally breezy trade winds blowing through today with moderate trades expected through the weekend, forecasters said.
Showers will be most frequent over windward areas, but a few showers will spread leeward on the smaller islands and afternoon showers will form over the Kona slopes.

Here’s a closer look at what to expect during the rest of the work week:

Today: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 79. Breezy, with a east wind around 20 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tonight: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 75. East wind around 17 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Thursday: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 79. East wind around 17 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Thursday Night: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 75. East wind around 14 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Friday: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 79. East wind around 17 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
