Univ. of New Mexico names field for Brian Urlacher
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher has received a high honor from the University of New Mexico.
The school has renamed its indoor football practice facilty Brian Urlacher Field.
The university said it was doing it in recognition of Urlacher's accomplishments and a recent $500,000 gift to the school.
Urlacher called the field naming a "huge honor," crediting New Mexico with giving him a chance to play and excel at football.
Urlacher is a six-time Pro Bowler and the 2006 NFL Defensive Player of the Year.
