Westin Maui, Honolulu wastewater plants cited for violations

The state Department of Health’s Clean Air Branch said today it has issued notices of violations and orders against Westin Maui Corporation and the City and County of Honolulu’s Kailua and Honouliuli Wastewater Treatment plants.

The citations note:
— Westin Maui Corporation, for late submittal of its semi-annual monitoring reports for the January to June 2008 reporting period for two steam boilers located in Lahaina, Maui.
A penalty of $2,600 has been imposed.
— City and County of Honolulu, Kailua Wastewater Treatment Plant for hydrogen sulfide readings exceeding its permit:
The violations were discovered during an inspection and records review. A penalty of $25,800 has been imposed.
— City and County of Honolulu, Honouliuli Wastewater Treatment Plant for exceeding its H2S fenceline permit limit.
The violation was self-reported; a penalty of $6,600 has been imposed.
