Rohter rites tomorrow

Advertiser Staff

A service for Hawai'i Green Party co-founder Ira Rohter will be held at 9 a.m. tomorrow at Honolulu Waldorf School at 350 Ulua St. in Niu Valley.

Rohter, 70, was born in Chicago and was a professor of political science at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa since 1968. He was one of the founding members of the Green Party when it began in Hawai'i in 1991, and was also its longtime chairman.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Honolulu Waldorf High School Building Fund. The school's telephone number is 377-5471.

Rohter is survived by his wife, Karen; son, Alon; daughter, Shahna; brother, Laurence; and sister, Sharlene.

Arrangements are being handled by Moanalua Mortuary.
