Swimming: Germany's Steffen sets 100m freestyle world record

BERLIN — Germany's Britta Steffen has set a new world record in the 100 meter freestyle, finishing in 52.56 seconds.
She shaved 29-hundredths of a second off her previous record.
The 25-year-old Steffen's record-setting swim Saturday came two days after she broke the previous record set by Australia's Lisbeth Trickett by 3-hundredths at the Berlin meet.
