Flute, bassoon and piano instrumentalists will perform contrasting chamber works at the “East Wind, West Wind” concert tonight at Hawaii Public Radio’s Atherton Theatre.

The “wind” will be provided by Kazataka Shimizu on flute and piccolo, and Philip
Gottling on bassoon and contrabassoon, with Wendy Yamashita on piano. HPR music director Gene Schiller will narrate Umberto Bertoni’s “The Bear and the Nightingale” as part of a performance that includes a mix of Eastern and Western chamber music.
The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 general, $20 for HPR members and $15 for students with ID. For information, call 955-8821 or find the concert under “Events” at www.hawaiipublicradio.org.
