High surf advisory canceled for southern shores

Advertiser Staff

The National Weather Service has canceled the high surf advisory this afternoon for Hawaii's southern shores.

The surf along south facing shores is down compared to the past couple of days, the National Weather Service said. The surf will gradually diminish through Monday. It was up to 8 to 12 feet yesterday afternoon and then diminish to 5 to 8 feet on Sunday.
Through the week, additional southernly swells will arrive through the week. Any increasing swell will most likely push surf above advisory levels again mid-week, the weather service said.
The lowered swells also caused the National Weather Service to drop its small craft advisory that had been issued earlier int he day.
