Honolulu police stepping up DUI checkpoints through July, August

Advertiser Staff

Honolulu police said Friday they will be conducting impaired driver checkpoints during the coming holiday weeks.

The checkpoints — at unannounced times and places — will be set up from Wednesday, July 1, through Monday, Aug. 31.
As of Monday, 31 people have died in 29 car crashes on Oahu this year. Police say alcohol or speed have contributed to at least 16 crashes.
