Bicyclist critically injured in Pearl City collision

Advertiser Staff

A 64-year-old bicyclist was critically injured today when a car collided with him in Pearl City, police said. Glare from the sun may have been a factor in the 6:24 a.m. accident, police said.

The man was riding a bicycle makai-bound on Noelani Street when a Honda Accord driven by a 48-year-old Pearl City was traveling mauka-bound on Hoolaulea Street. The car was making a left turn when it collided with the bicycle in the intersection of Hoolaulea and Noelani, near Highlands Intermediate School.
The man suffered head and bodily injuries and was taken to The Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition, police said. He was wearing a helmet. The driver was not injured.
