Police probe man's stabbing as attempted murder case

Advertiser Staff

A 32-year-old man was in serious condition yesterday after he was stabbed while attempting to break up a fight Sunday night in Kalihi.

Police said a 19-year-old man was fighting with another man about 9:45 p.m. Sunday on Ahu'ula Street when the victim tried to intervene. The suspect turned on the older man and stabbed him, police said.

The victim appeared to have been stabbed multiple times and was taken to the hospital in critical condition, said Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city Emergency Services Department. Cheplic said the man's condition later improved to serious condition.

Police opened a second-degree attempted murder case. The suspect remained at large yesterday.
