TEAM USA IS 4-0

Team USA, with former University of Hawai'i All-American Heather Bown, remained unbeaten with a 25-22, 25-21, 26-24 victory over Peru last night in the eighth Women's Pan American Cup at University of Miami's BankUnited Center.

The victory sets up a key match between the U.S. (4-0) and Puerto Rico on today's final day of pool play. The winner advances to the second round and has two days to prepare. Tomorrow is an off day and pool winners receive a bye Thursday.

Five Team USA players reached double-digit scoring, led by Jordan Larson (14 points) and Kristin Richards (13).

The U.S. absorbed every rally from Peru (2-2), coming back from a 20-14 third-set deficit with Larson serving seven straight points.

"We expected a tough match from Peru and that is what we got," U.S. head coach Hugh McCutcheon told USA Volleyball.
