Wind advisory in effect for Isles until 6 p.m.

Advertiser Staff

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for the entire state, saying strong northeast winds will continue at 15 to 30 mph throughout the day with gusts up to 50 mph.

The advisory will remain in effect until 6 p.m. today.

The greatest wind speeds will most likely occur where the wind blows through valleys and over ridges and around headlands, especially on the lee side of each island, the weather service said.

The winds may be powerful enough to knock down tree limbs and power lines, according to the advisory.
