Memorial service for Spc. Walter Tuesday

A memorial service for Spc. Cwislyn K. Walter of the Hawai'i Army National Guard will be held Tuesday at Borthwick Mortuary, 1330 Maunakea St.

Walter, 19, died Feb. 19 in a vehicle accident outside Kuwait City. She was deployed to Kuwait with the Headquarters and Headquarters Comapny, 29th Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 29th Infantry Bridage Combat Team.

A private family viewing will take place from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, followed at 3 p.m. by a memorial service open to the public and public viewing from 4 to 5 p.m.

The family is requesting monetary donations in lieu of flowers. Aloha attire for civilian attendees and Class A uniforms for service members.

Gov. Linda Lingle yesterday said U.S. and state flags will fly at half-staff Tuesday in honor of Walter.
