People in Hanalei urged to conserve water

Advertiser Staff

HANALEI, Kaua'i – Hanalei residents and visitors are urged to continue to conserve water and restrict water consumption to essential uses only until the pump servicing the area is repaired.

While the repair work is being done, residents may experience low water pressure.

Officials expect the pump to be back online by Tuesday afternoon.

The affected area includes the entire town of Hanalei, from the lower end of Hanalei Plantation Rd. to Waikoko Rd.

Residents are also asked to notify their neighbors of this urgent request and encourage their participation in water conservation efforts, which will reduce the likelihood of a water outage.

Essential uses include cooking; bathing; and toilet flushing.

Water conservation measures include refraining from car washing; reducing outdoor irrigation; and using water wisely indoors and outdoors.

For more information, call the Department of Water at 245-5455 during business hours, 7:45 am to 4:30 pm, or Police Dispatch, 241-1711, after business hours.
