Maui Memorial Medical welcomes chaplain

Maui Memorial Medical Center welcomed its first full-time chaplain in a ceremony that preceded the blessing of its newly renovated chapel.

Chaplain Amy Hill works for Pacific Health Ministry, which is contracted by Maui Memorial to provide chaplain services. She is coordinator of the hospital's Chaplaincy Program and provides spiritual services and support to Maui Memorial staff, patients and their families. Hill is assisted by chaplain Stan Franco.

Participating in Hill's installation ceremony were Rabbi David Glickman of the Jewish Congregation of Maui, the Rev. Alalani Hill, the Rev. Austin Murray of Trinity-By-The-Sea Episcopal Church, the Rev. Jeff Soga of Kahului Hongwanji Mission, and Mgsr. Terry Watanabe of St. Theresa Catholic Church.

Volunteers led by Marita Somerville were responsible for the chapel renovation, which includes a mural, a bench and chairs, and multifaith symbols. Other project volunteers are Keoki Benjamin, Hien Do, Oz Figueroa, Andrea Jordan, Lino Lee, Kuki Morgan, Lia Nelson, Corey Suda, Ryan Suda, Scott Suda and Riley Wong.
